Have you ever been up late at night not able to go to sleep because of all of the thoughts running through your mind? Have you ever caught yourself in the middle of the day breathing quickly and panicking because of all the stress in your life? Well relax and take a deep breath, actually, take ten deep breaths!
When you are feeling stressed or anxious, it is the body’s natural reaction to quicken your breathing, which will increase your heart rate and blood pressure. So practice taking slower and deeper breaths. Just try it for ten slow breaths. It helps to close your eyes, in a quiet place, and rest your hand on your chest to feel yourself inhaling and exhaling. I do this when I am lying awake at night, and it truly does calm me down. Breathing exercises are a great way to relax, reduce tension and relieve stress, so try it!
